A Day in the Life: Alix Fiorino

Written by Team SI on Friday, October 16, 2015

This month we would like to introduce to you team member Alix Fiorino. Alix is a Content Producer for Team Luther in the automotive division here at Team SI. Although a southern California native, Alix grew up bi-coastal.  Spending her childhood traveling between Orange Country, California, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

She found her way to Arkansas after graduating with a B.S in Communications from William Woods University in Fulton, Mo. Her concentrated areas in school were Public Relations, Leadership and Equestrian Administration. All three of which she is extremely passionate about. If you ever get to meet her in person, you will love her free spirit and the way she color coordinates her daily agenda book! It is seriously one of the most colorful things we have ever seen.

What does the word “team” mean to you?

A team is a group of people working together and relying on one another to reach a common goal.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

I love the challenge of infusing creativity with  strategy. Our goal is to create relevant and fun content for our clients. Our team represents auto dealers, so we want to make sure that their content is appropriate and engaging.

Innovation is one of our core values, what does innovation mean to you?

Innovation is extremely important, especially in our industry. If you are not moving forward, you are moving backward. To innovate means to move forward!

When you get hired at Team SI it is a tradition to tell everyone in the office an interesting fact about yourself. What would your one fact be?

Although my degree is in Communications and Public Relations, I went to an equestrian college. Through college, I worked as a riding instructor and groom. I initially went to college wanting to be a horse trainer and business owner.

When you aren’t working what are you doing?

I love to stay busy! When I am not working you’ll find me on a paddleboard doing yoga (yes at the same time), riding horses, or at CrossFit. I also love to travel. Any chance I get, I pack up and go somewhere!

As Helen Keller said, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.”

Where is your favorite place to travel?

Anywhere with an ocean ideally. My mom lives in Southern California, and my Dad lives in South Florida. Anywhere that I have family and a beach I am totally content. So my answer would be:

1. Fort Lauderdale, FL
The water is warm and the beach is lively! There are great bars and restaurants in Fort Lauderdale and always something to do. I can always rely on fun friends, good drinks and a tan when I go here.

2. Huntington Beach, CA
It’s so hard to explain what California is like if you have never been there. It is just relaxing! You can surf or walk the pier. At night, it is cool so you can bundle up in a sweatshirt and listen to the waves with a hot drink in hand. In some spots along PCH, you can even make a bonfire.

Winter or Summer? Give your reasoning.

I am summer all the way! I grew up in two places where seasons do not exist. In the summer, I can enjoy being outside much easier. I love to be by the water, and that’s much easier in summer.

Winter is lovely for a weekend, but after that it becomes difficult for me.

Are you a dog or a cat person? Give your reasoning.

I love dogs! I have nothing against cats, but dogs are way more fun! My goal is to get a little French Bulldog and name him something from Harry Potter. So far names I am considering include: Neville, Butterbeer, and Sevy (Severus). I want to be able to dress him up and take him paddleboarding all the time!
